When I go back I will buy a bunch of different lures from Red Top Tackle, and I will look to have some kind of 10+ rod that can handle up to say 100g (surface lures as well as soft plastics for fishing the bottom etc.) In my mind the rod is more a means for putting the lures out rather than worrying about the potential size of the fish in strong currents if that makes sense - albeit those stripers go well in that current
However, most simple holders can be built in a few hours

Spinning rods are great for beginners, finesse techniques, and lightweight lures, while casting rods offer superior accuracy, power, and control for advanced anglers
Premium Fuji reel seats provide a lightweight, secure foundation for your reel, and AA-grade, high-density cork grips complete with high-density Hypalon butts ensure all day comfort
I would feel safer with my rods locked inside the truck than on the roof
